The White R.C. takes its name from ” reliquia Catanese”, a project undertaken by Antonino Barraco in Trapani which has as its objective the rediscovery and enhancement of ancient local varieties. In this case we are talking about a white wine with a unique flavor that recalls the salty and Mediterranean traits of Catarratto, but also the aromaticity and the fresh-mineral note of Carricante. A wine that is also born from an artisan and genuine vision, founded on a respectful work towards the land and the vines. Candid and decidedly typical expressions that photograph the Mediterranean nature of the south-east end of Sicily and project it into the glass. This Barraco white is a gem produced in a few copies, dedicated to those who want to taste an original and lively white, full of personality and extremely territorial.
R.C. Barraco was born near Marsala, in a particularly fertile terroir, heated throughout the year by the burning Sicilian sun and ventilated by the sirocco and breezes that rise from the sea. In the vineyard, Nino prohibits any form of synthetic chemistry to preserve the integrity of the place and safeguard the spontaneous cycle of nature. A very respectful and uninterventional approach is also followed in the cellar. The must macerates on the skins for 4-5 days, giving richness, depth and a light tannic sensation. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in steel tanks for the intervention of indigenous yeasts and aging continues in the same containers for 6-7 months. Filtrations or addition of sulphites are reduced to a minimum.
The Barraco R.C. it dresses with a golden yellow cloak, slightly turbid. The throbbing nose of Sicily: citrus fruits, salt, aromatic herbs (sage and oregano above all), balsamic essences, toasted almonds, Mediterranean scrub and a fascinating note that recalls the sea. The sip is fleshy, tense and with a marked saline freshness. Straight, elegant and unique, like every Barraco expression!
